Sir James has launched a campaign to improve test capacity following reports of long wait times at the Southend Driving Test Centre.
Following the successful campaign to reopen the Southend Driving Test Centre in 2012, the centre went from strength to strength as test numbers increased yearly.
Since the pandemic, demand for driving tests has only increased; while there has been working to address the long waitlist, there is still much work to do to improve the situation.
Regarding the issues, Sir James said
"Learning to drive can be a long process, and made only longer when you cannot get a test. Improving testing capacity at Southend will enable learners to gain the independence that driving provides."
