An MP met with Essex Police's new commander for the south of the county to discuss local policing and tackling crime.
James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, sat down with Chief Superintendent Waheed Khan on Friday.
Recent disturbances along the seafront and tackling drug gangs were among the topics raised during the meeting.
Commenting, James said:
"It was good to sit down with the new Chief Superintendent to talk about a range of issues, and I look forward to working with Waheed and the wider local policing team to ensure Southend remains a safe place to live and visit."
