James clocked up almost 40 miles taking part in a 24-hour relay race in aid of a Southend homeless charity.
The Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East was one of the dozens of participants to enter the HARP24 challenge over the course of the weekend.
Based in Cherry Orchard Country Park, runners compete from midday on Saturday through to midday on Sunday, completing as many laps as possible of the five-mile circuit in 24 hours.
Despite a few hours being lost due to thunderstorms and torrential rain, the MP managed to rack up 38 miles over the course of the event – and already has his sights set on a PB next year.
Commenting, James said:
“It was great fun taking part in this year’s HARP24 challenge. The thunder and torrential rain meant we lost a few hours over Saturday night, into Sunday morning, however, I am pleased that I was able to complete 38 miles.
“I already have set myself the target of 50 miles for next year!”
