Essex is benefiting from hundreds of additional police officers as part of the Government’s pledge to put 20,000 more officers on the streets by March 2023.
Latest figures show the national recruitment drive has delivered 332 extra police to the county’s force since September 2019 – bringing its total number of officers up to 3,648.
The latest announcement has been welcomed by Rochford and Southend East MP James Duddridge.
Across the country, an additional 13,576 officers have been recruited, bringing the total number of police officers in England and Wales to 142,526.
Commenting, James said:
“I’m delighted that an extra 332 police officers have been recruited to Essex Police so far as part of the Government’s ongoing national recruitment drive.
“These additional officers are already helping to pursue criminals and keep our local neighbourhoods safe.”
