Local community sports organisiations can bid for emergency funding to help repair facilities damaged by the recent storms.
Sport England has announced grants of up to £15,000 to help repair facilities such as clubhouses, courts and pitches affected by the bad weather and get them back to operation as soon as possible.
The move has been welcomed by local MP James Duddridge, who is a keen runner himself.
The Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East said:
"We were hit pretty badly by the recent storms, and I am pleased local sports organisations can apply for this grant to have any damaged facilities repaired."
The Storm Relief Fund is a part of Sport England's wider Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Activity Fund, launched last month to help bring communities together and tackle inequalities through sport and physical activity.
