Following the announcement that Barclays would be closing its branch in Thorpe Bay Broadway, James Duddridge MP released the following statement:
"I am saddened by the news of the closure of the Barclays Branch in Thorpe Bay and I know local residents will be bitterly disappointed too.
"The way we bank today is unrecognisable from 50 years ago and sadly Barclays has taken the commercial decision to close this local branch after a sustained fall in customer use.
"I will be seeking reassurances from the Chief Executive of Barclays to ensure that personal contact is made with all regular and vulnerable users of the branch to discuss their options and guide them through alternative ways to access banking services."
