James Duddridge MP met virtually with c2c’s new Managing Director for an update on the challenges facing the rail operator due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
It was the first meeting between the Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East and Ben Ackyrod, who took over the role in September.
With coronavirus continuing to dominate, James was keen to hear more about the impact the pandemic was having on the operator.
The pair also discussed other issues, including ticketing, timetables and James’ ambition for faster trains to London.
Commenting, James said:
“I was pleased to be able to sit down and hold a virtual meeting with Ben. Obviously, it’s a challenging time for the rail industry, and I know the Government is working closely with operators so essential journeys can continue safely.
“The meeting was also an opportunity for us to look at other areas, such as making rail travel faster, and my long-term ambition for train journeys from Shoeburyness to London to take less than 60 minutes.
“I wish Ben every success in his new role and I look forward to working closely with him and c2c.”
