Southend is to benefit from more than two million pounds of additional Government funding to help reduce rough sleeping in the town.
The money, which will help provide a permanent place to live for some of the most vulnerable in society, has been welcomed by James Duddridge MP.
The Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East said:
“The Government has gone to great lengths to protect vulnerable people during this pandemic, and this additional funding for Southend continues to build on that.
“I am delighted that our town will receive an extra £2.1 million, which will help tackle rough sleeping and give those who are affected the protection they need to rebuild their lives.”
The money comes on top of an additional £2.44 million of Government funding for local councils announced in Southend last week.
In total, Southend Borough Council has been provided with £21 million of extra funding since the pandemic began.
