James Duddridge MP says ensuring local NHS staff have the protective equipment they need to beat coronavirus is a key priority.
The MP for Rochford and Southend East has been in contact with senior hospital staff and fellow ministers in Whitehall to make sure everyone who needs personal protective equipment can get it.
So far, the government has delivered 170 million masks and other protective equipment, with the Army offering service personnel to help manage and offload supplies.
Every GP practice, dental practice, and community pharmacy has had a delivery of personal protective equipment too.
All care homes, hospices, and home care providers have, or will shortly have, a delivery.
A new NHS personal protective equipment hotline has also been set up, which allows healthcare organisations to place orders 24 hours a day.
James said:
“Protecting our local NHS staff by ensuring they have the equipment and resources they need to beat coronavirus is a key priority.
“I am pleased the Government has already delivered millions of additional protective equipment to hospitals, GP practices and pharmacies.
“We should not underestimate the size of this challenge, and there’s more to do, but the full weight of the Government is working to deliver this as quickly as possible.”
