James Duddridge joined fellow South Essex MPs Sir David Amess, Mark Francois and Rebecca Harris for a visit to the new Fair Havens Hospice which is due to open next year.
The parliamentarians were joined by Haven Hospices' new CEO, Steve Smith, for the site tour on Friday 13th September.
They were shown how works were taking shape at the brand new facility, which will be able to care for twice as many patients from across Southend, Rochford, Rayleigh and Castle Point.
The group also pledged their support for the charity's final fundraising campaign "Power of a Pound" which is encouraging local residents to donate £1 to get the building finished.
James, the MP for Rochford and Southend East, said,
“I have every faith that my constituents and my colleagues’ constituents will get involved in helping Havens Hospices reach their final target for the building.
"Whether you simply donate £1 or you organise your own fundraising event with friends and family to help raise funds, you’ll be making a huge difference.
"Earlier this year I joined ‘Team Havens’ at the London Marathon and I had the most fantastic experience, while helping them to raise much needed funds to continue caring for families across Essex – so I can highly recommend joining the charity at an event and fundraising that way.”
