James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has revealed what constituents have been contacting him about in 2018.
Unsurprisingly, the most common topic constituents contacted James on was Brexit with 18% of all casework in 2018 being related to Brexit and Theresa May's proposed deal. James recently held a survey on this issue asking constituents their views on this important matter. At the end of the year James revealed that 85% of the respondents did not support the Prime Minister's deal.
James said,
"Brexit is clearly at the forefront of peoples minds with so many of them writing to me in relation to it. It was clear from both the correspondence that I have been receiving and from the responses to my survey that the vast majority of constituents reject the Prime Ministers deal."
"As the local Member of Parliament I will of course continue to fight for the Brexit that the electorate voted for so we can control our own destiny as a truly global Britain."
Over the course of 2018 James has assisted constituents with 5230 issues ranging from homelessness prevention, to social care.
James said,
"Although a Member of Parliament does not have magic powers that can fix all issues I am able to make official representations on behalf of any constituent to assist."
"Helping my constituents is an incredibly rewarding part of being your Member of Parliament, should any constituent have any issue that I may be of assistance with they are welcome to contact me."
