James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has written to all schools in the constituency to highlight the services offered by the Parliamentary Education Service.
The Parliamentary Education Service is based in Westminster and offer a number of services ranging from the organisation of educational tours to teacher training sessions.
James said,
“The Parliamentary Education Service is a wonderful resource that has already helped a number of our local schools including Cecil Jones and Southend High School for Girls. I hope that more schools take advantage of this excellent service.”
This year also celebrates 100 years of Woman Suffrage and James is keen for schools to promote this key historical achievement with a visit to Parliament.
James said,
“100 years ago women were finally given the vote and began the road towards equality. It is important that today’s young people understand the importance of this achievement.”
“There is no better way to do this than to visit Parliament where you can visibly see historical markings on statues where women would chain themselves in protest.”
