Now that both the A level results and the GCSE results have come out it’s clear to see just how well our schools have done. The hard work that our local students have put in really paid off and I am sure so many of them are thrilled with what they have achieved. I would like to congratulate each and every one of them for their achievements.
But no matter how each student did, whether they achieved a full set of 9’s or not, now is the time for looking to the future and asking what you will do with these results. It is clear to see that not every student is alike and there is no ‘one size fits all’ path to achieve their potential. Many students coming out of their A Levels will opt to go to university to continue their academic studies, this is a great pathway but not the only option and is not an option you have to take now.
For many students, the option to begin their career and start earning money straight away is a better pathway. This can be in a skilled trade by becoming an apprentice which allows you to learn whilst you earn. Alternatively, this can be in full time employment which allows you to develop skills that are otherwise hard to learn. Another option is to go into business yourself by using the skills you have learnt in school to develop an idea, and with the help of excellent local services, such as the Hive, you may just become the next big thing.
Every one of these pathways can lead to success. However, whatever pathway you choose it is important to continue your hard work to ensure you take advantage of the opportunities you have been given. I am sure that the skills you have learnt in school will help you succeed in the future.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns that I may be of assistance with as your local Member of Parliament please do not hesitate to contact me by email at [email protected].
