Earlier Yesterday (Monday 5th March) James visited South Essex College to launch their #NAW2018 Campaign. National Apprenticeship Week is from Monday 5th – Friday 9th March 2018, and it is a chance for employers and apprentices to come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships while encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career. The theme for the week nationally is “Apprenticeships Work”.
As part of the college’s campaign they will be releasing daily videos aimed at explaining apprenticeships for employers and supporting the spotlight on apprenticeships. The Video topics have been especially chosen to reflect the Southend Borough Council Priority Growth Sectors (Specialist Construction, Creative and Cultural, Specialist Manufacture, and Health and Social Care). One other Video has also been filmed, which focusses on the “Tech City on Sea “initiative, based at the Hive in Southend.
James Said:
“I have been a long-term champion and advocate of apprenticeships and so I was delighted to be able to visit South Essex College and support their National Apprenticeship Week campaign. I am a firm believer that apprenticeships give young people an opportunity to get into their desired field in a smart way and build lifelong skills whilst still earning. I would like to encourage everyone to go and watch the daily videos being uploaded this week on the South Essex College YouTube channel”
Joanne Giles, South Essex College's Director of Apprenticeships, said:
"It’s really important that we provide a very clear message to all employers in Essex that apprenticeship funding is available and it is the commitment of the College to unravel the complexities behind apprenticeships.
Our aspiration is to provide clear advice and guidance that allows employers and young people to access quality apprenticeship programmes through the College.”
Cllr John Lamb, Leader of Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, said:
“Apprentices play a key role in a range of different sectors, not only for the Council, but for businesses across the country.
“We are lucky enough to employ a number of apprentices here at the Council, and combining the knowledge of experienced Council officers with the fresh ideas that apprentices can offer, we give ourselves, and the apprentices, the best opportunity to succeed.”
