With summer holidays fast approaching it was great to see a new addition to our high-street. I was very happy to meet the team behind Caddies; Essex’s first crazy golf restaurant and bar.
I am sure most of you have seen the new signs in the high street with Caddies set to launch in the heart of Southend-on-Sea this month. If you haven’t, Cadies will be located directly opposite the Odeon Cinema in the High Street where Riley’s snooker club used to be for those familiar with Southend High Street.
Caddies is a blend of social competitive fun, with an eccentric British barbecue inspired menu, and Funky 70s retro décor. After visiting I can assure you, it is the ultimate social destination for families, friends, and celebrations.
Caddies is home to two 9 hole crazy golf courses, each course starts in the ‘Secret Garden’ before players putt their way into their retro-eccentric clubhouse.
If that doesn’t take your fancy, Southend Borough Council are reintroducing the open-top bus service to the seafront after a successful first year of operation. Go-Ahead London announced via a press release that the red and white Route 68 bus service will once again be navigating its way along the Southend-on-Sea seafront between the Kursaal and Leigh-on-Sea. The hop-on hop-off service will run between the following stops; The Kursaal, Westcliff Palmeira Arches, Chalkwell Shelter, Chalkwell Station, Leigh, The Ship (Old Leigh), Leigh-on-Sea Station and Leigh Broadway.
The service will run for an additional six weeks compared to 2017, with the service initially running from Saturday 26 May for the Bank Holiday weekend, and will then return on Saturday 09 June to run daily until Saturday 01 September.
Most of us don’t walk around with change in our pockets so to ensure you and your family and friends can board the bus please note that service fees must be paid on the bus in cash. Adult day ticket costs around £4 with a child/concession day ticket costing £2.
I would encourage families looking for more information on this service to visit Southend Borough Council’s website.
