On the 2nd February Mr James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, visited Shoeburyness High School. On his visit, he took time to meet with a group of Year 7 pupils from the Academically More Able (AMA) pathway, which includes those students who join the school through a selective place.
On this occasion the students were benefitting from a half day workshop called ‘Energy Quest’ through the Tomorrow’s Engineers programme. The workshop encourages students to appreciate the importance of science and engineering in the modern world through hands on activities and discussion, addressing the issues of dwindling energy resources and climate change.
James Said:
I was so impressed with the sheer hard work and focus of the students in the group. Leaders and teachers in the school have developed a culture and ethos that endorses hard work and celebrates every success. I would like to thank all the staff at Shoeburyness High school for the work that they are doing with these children and look forward to what lies ahead for the schools ever growing ambitions”
Mark Schofield, Head teacher said:
“We were really pleased to welcome Mr James Duddridge MP to Shoeburyness to see our selective students on this occasion. Shoeburyness is a really strong community school and the visit from our local MP and his continued support is hugely important to us and our students.”
