James Duddridge Local Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East Welcomes Southend Borough Councils Announcement on Additional School Places in Southend.
James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East was delighted to hear today that existing schools in Southend will be offering more school places to assist with increasing demand.
Seven schools in Southend will be providing an additional 390 new places over the next three years. 150 of these places, which will be at Belfairs Academy, Shoeburyness High School and St Thomas More School, will made available as soon as the next academic year.
Chase High School, Cecil Jones Academy, St Bernard’s School, the Eastwood Academy and Southchurch High School will also increase the number of places on offer.
Southend Borough Council has been working closely together with all secondary schools in Southend-on Sea to make sure that these places became available.
James said:
“I was delighted to be informed that 390 new school places will now be available over the next three years, effectively filling the gap between numbers of students and places available.
I have always made it very clear that I would like there to be an expansion of school places for existing schools, and I am delighted that this is now what will happen.”

“I am very grateful to our secondary schools who have worked with the Council to come to this solution which offers a secure way forward for the young people of Southend-on-Sea.”
