James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, urges residents to support the Woodland Trust scheme by encouraging residents to recycle their Christmas cards by the end of this month.
Last year the Woodland Trust planted 12,500 trees across the UK and the trust has been planting restoring and protecting woodland for 40 years. Christmas card collection boxes will be in M&S stores again from January 2 to January 31 2016 and money generated through the card recycling scheme will fund the planting of new trees throughout the UK.
This year’s aim is to collect at least 10 million cards so that 10,000 trees can be planted next year, just by recycling unwanted Christmas cards.”
James said
“I have supported the Woodland Trust for a number of years now and it is so easy to do, just pop the cards in the collection boxes located in a Marks and Spencer store. If you are unable to get to a store then please recycle your cards using your household recycling.”
