James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, urges the Secretary of State for Health to authorise the permanent use of the PET-CT scanner at Southend Hospital.
Following the news that the decision regarding the permanent location of the scanner had been postponed due to a complaint around the consultation process, James contacted the Rt Honourable Jeremy Hunt MP requesting that the scanner is operational as it is required for patient use.
Whilst the scanner has been authorised for operational use two days a week, James would like to see it being utilised full time.
James said
“ I recently received notification from NHS England that the PET – CT Scanner at Southend Hospital is due to be put into operation on a temporary basis whilst a complaint is investigated. Turning the scanner on was the right decision but it should be in operation full time. I disagree with the complaint and this equipment needs to be in operation, providing medical care to those that need it and further delays are, I believe, irresponsible.”
