James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has reconfirmed his enthusiasm for the Crossrail project.
The project boasts that around 75,000 business opportunities will be created over the lifetime of the project, supporting 55,000 jobs. Currently at least 8 businesses in Rochford and Southend East have secured work because of the project. It is expected to generate at least £42 billion in economic growth.
James said
“This is an exciting and massive project. Considering the size of some of our European counterparts it is fantastic that Europe’s largest infrastructure project is taking place here in the UK. This project reinforces how ambitious we are as a nation and how we benefit from the most dynamic economy in Europe. Such transport improvements are vital and we must forge ahead if we want the world to look at Britain as a nation that is open for business. This is made even more essential as we leave the EU and seek to release our economic potential.”
Crossrail is building a new 73 mile metro railway which will be known as the Elizabeth line.
James added
“We want Crossrail to be seen as a forward thinking and ambitious scheme that will take our transport and economy into the future.”
