“This Thursday you have an opportunity to make Britain Great again and restore our status as an Independent Nation State. Most people I meet in Rochford and Southend are sceptical about our position in Europe. I was selected by my party as a Eurosceptic, I was elected as a Eurosceptic in 2005 and 2010. I was appointed as a Eurosceptic Minister in 2010 and 2014 as a Foreign Office Minister. I will now vote as a Eurosceptic and vote to come out of the European Union on the 23rd June. Our security derives from NATO and our position on the Security Council of the UN. We flourished before the entry into the EU in the 70’s and will continue to do so. Europe is no longer the biggest growth market. We need to reassert ourselves in the commonwealth and with the Anglosphere. The future is bright outside the European Union and our destiny in under out control. It makes sense to leave and leave now. We are the 5th largest economy in the world. Our families our better off out and we are better off out. Britain is a strong, independent, nation state. It has major trading partners around the world. If we were to come out of Europe, we would continue to move around the continent to trade. We remain close to the continent, but do not want to sell out our sovereignty. If we were not in the EU why on Earth would you sign up to a club that costs £350m a week with its own president, flag and currency! As a Foreign Office Minister and a local MP, I think the UK is better off as an Independent Nation State. We should take back control of our boarders, our laws, and our economic future.”
