“I am delighted that the government is cutting Air Passenger Duty for children under the age of 12 on economy travel from May 2015l. From the following year, Air Passenger Duty for children under 16 will also be abolished. As a father with a young family, I know how expensive travel can be, especially during school holidays and I know that today’s announcement will be welcome news to my constituents with young families. This is also fantastic news for the ongoing strength of Southend Airport as I am sure this will now mean more young families will be able to enjoy the travel destinations offered at our very own airport!
Southend is a major business and tourism destination due to our excellent local airport, and as a government we are investing in its future. This government has now delivered a significant tax cut in Air Passenger Duty and it is extremely positive news for our local businesses and families.”
