James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, is urging residents of Barling and Sutton, Wakering and Foulness to get behind the campaign supporting the local Post Office.
James received notification from Mr and Mrs Patel of Great Wakering Post Office that the facility to collect undelivered mail items from the Wakering Post Office is being cancelled. As of the end of September, undelivered items will be returned to Short Street Southend for collection, or arrangements to be made for redelivery.
James said
“I have already written to Moya Greene, Chief Executive of Royal Mail, questioning why this decision has been made and I am currently awaiting a response. In the meantime I urge the local community to show their support for the campaign and sign the petitions that have been left with various local businesses.
“The completed petitions will be sent to Moya Greene of the Royal Mail next week and hopefully, with the support of the local community, the decision will be overturned.”
