James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, is delighted that Essex County Council have released emergency funds to tackle flooding issues across the county.
Essex County Council compiled a report, the Flooding and Emergency Response Plan, which identified areas that have suffered flooding over the recent very wet winter. Each District Council was approached to nominate their top 5 flooding hotspots. As a result of the report, Essex County Council have released £1million of emergency funding to tackle the problem.
There are two sites in Rochford and Southend East that have been identified as flooding hotspots; Hall Road Railway Bridge in Rochford and Barling Road in Great Wakering.
James said
“I know that flooding has caused problems for residents this past winter and it will be of great reassurance to local residents that a number of locations have been identified as flooding hotspots and action is being taken to prevent the problems from arising again.”
