James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, is encouraging local students to take part in Parliament Week 2012, an annual national week to build greater awareness of and engagement with parliamentary democracy in the UK. Parliament Week is organised by the House of Commons and House of Lords and takes place between 19-25 November.
James has sent information and debate packs to all secondary schools in Rochford and Southend East to encourage pupils to take part in Parliament Week.
James said
“I am pleased to support this exciting initiative exploring how democracy affects citizens and how they can participate in it. I encourage schools to visit Parliament and see firsthand how Government works. I would urge everyone to visit the Parliament Week website to learn more about the history of Parliament, the work of Parliamentarians and democracy.”
