James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, welcomed two constituents into the House of Commons yesterday. Peter and Gillian Fitz-Gibbon, from Great Wakering, visited Parliament and had a tour of the House of Commons. James provided them with gallery tickets which allowed them to view debates and questions on the floor of the House.
Peter and Gillian saw James on the front bench in his role of Government Whip during Oral Questions for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Questions were answered by the Secretary of State, the Rt Hon William Hague MP.
Peter and Gillian said
“We had a great day, it was so interesting seeing a little of how our Government and Politicians work and looking round the buildings, we thoroughly enjoyed it!
James said
“I am always delighted to welcome constituents to Westminster. It gives people a better understanding and appreciation of the work that MPs do and how Government works. It is also an amazing place to have a tour and to get a better understanding of the history of Parliament.”
James is allocated thirteen pairs of gallery tickets each year, two of which are for Prime Minister’s Questions.
Constituents that would like to be added to the waiting list for gallery tickets should contact James’ office.
