James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, issues a statement regarding the proposed fire strikes across London.
James said
“The proposed strikes from the fire service across London on the 5th November are wholly irresponsible. The timing of this action appears to be deliberate and will cause maximum risk to the lives of Londoners. At a time when we are trying to educate children to be responsible with fireworks I find it totally inappropriate for the fire service to be acting in such an irresponsible manner.
Whilst this is a matter for the London Fire Brigade, the FBU decision is reckless and is endangering the lives of thousands of children and adults across London. I would strongly urge the FBU to rethink the decision for strike action and handle the dispute in a more appropriate, responsible fashion.”
