James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, attended a meeting with a number of other MP’s who represent Costal Town constituencies. Also present at the meeting was Mark Prisk MP, Minister of State (Business and Enterprise) Business, Innovation and Skills.
The meeting was an opportunity for Coastal Town MP’s to raise questions and discuss the specific challenges facing seaside constituencies including small businesses, economy, tourism, transport, employment and new business start ups.
James said
“This meeting was an opportunity to raise questions and discuss the challenges facing Southend and other coastal towns with a Government Minister. Not only did we discuss the challenges but we also discussed the opportunities, local enterprise partnerships and employment.
As a Government Whip I am unable to ask questions on the floor of the house however, meetings like this are a fantastic opportunity for me to ask questions of Government Ministers.
I will continue to raise the issues that Southend faces and ensure that the Government are aware of the challenges and promote any opportunities that arise for our seaside town.”
