Read James Duddridge MP's letter to residents in Rochford and Southend East, first published in The Echo newspaper on Tuesday, 22nd December 2020:
I know entering Tier 4 is devastating for everyone looking forward to spending time with family at Christmas. Sadly, the stark reality is that this disease is spreading rapidly through our area and the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to local hospitals has risen dramatically.
We have come so far in this battle against coronavirus, and hope is on the horizon as the vaccination roll-out continues. However, we must hold our nerve and continue to do everything in our power to protect the most vulnerable in our community, no matter how difficult that may seem.
As the Prime Minister said, we are sacrificing our chance to see loved ones this Christmas, so we have a better chance of protecting their lives so we can see them at future Christmases..
May I take this opportunity to once again thank Echo readers and residents for continuing to follow the rules and wish you a safe and merry Christmas.
James Duddridge MP - Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East
