Sir James Duddridge KCMG, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, and Anna Firth, Member of Parliament for Southend West, welcome a £256,285 grant to improve air quality across Southend.
The city’s share of the £10.7 million Air Quality Grant is part of the government’s commitment to taking decisive action to cut air pollution and protect public health. Since 2010, around £53 million has been awarded to projects throughout the country.
Last month, the Environmental Improvement Plan was published, building on the vision set out in the 25 Year Environment Plan, and sets out the details on how we will restore nature and improve environmental quality, while unlocking fantastic new opportunities for green growth
Commenting Sir James said:
“Tackling air pollution remains a top priority for the government, and it is fantastic that Southend has been awarded a quarter of a million pounds to improve our city’s air quality and the quality of life for all residents.”
