Sir James Duddridge KCMG, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, is supporting Bliss as they raise awareness of premature births and the effect that it can have on families.
World Prematurity Day is a global movement, which takes place on the 17th of November each year. In the United Kingdom, one in every thirteen babies is born premature, with over 90,000 babies receiving neonatal care each year.
This year, parliamentarians across the House of Commons demonstrated their support for Bliss ahead of World Prematurity Day by wearing blue ribbons in the Chamber.
Sir James said,
“World Prematurity Day offers an opportunity to talk about premature births and raise awareness of the hurdles babies and their parents face and overcome.
“Each neonatal experience is different. However, by coming together and raising awareness of premature births, we can show affected families that they are not alone.”
