Southend MPs Sir David Amess and James Duddridge recently showed their support for local pharmacies at a drop-in event in Parliament on Tuesday 21st November.
The local MPs met with community pharmacists to discuss how they relieve pressure on GPs and A&E services. The event came as we enter the winter months, when pharmacies are vital to the well-being of the public.
This year, as the community pharmacy sector adapts to unprecedented workload pressures, pharmacies are continuing to provide NHS flu vaccinations, interventions to keep people healthy and away from hospitals, and services to help people get the most from their medicines.
Sir David and Mr Duddridge praised the work of pharmacists in Southend, applauding their ‘invaluable contributions to the local community’. They were both eager to hear from Southend representatives of the ‘Support Your Local Pharmacy’ campaign who shared their visions on how the sector can continue to help people and other NHS service providers.
