Businesses in Southend and Rochford are being asked to step forward in a bid to help tackle the coronavirus crisis.
James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, has been exploring opportunities with local companies to try and assist the national effort to meet the demand for ventilators.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is calling on businesses able to support the NHS and its highest priority demands to contact the government's new business support helpline.
One of the companies to come forward is Southend manufacturer Olympus Medical.
Constantin Zangemeister - Regional Managing Director United Kingdom & Ireland said:
"Olympus understands the demand that Covid-19 places on the NHS and will be continually assessing how we, as a global medical device manufacturer are best placed to support the well-being of both its workforce and patients"
James Duddridge MP added:
“I thank businesses such as Olympus Medical for coming forward and supporting our cause as part of the national effort to meet the expected demand for ventilators.
“Companies who feel they may also be able to help are asked to call the BEIS Business Support helpline on 0300 456 3565 or email [email protected].”
