James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has welcomed the recent announcement from Vodafone and CityFibre that Southend is one of three areas to be included in the Gigabit capable fibre optic broadband rollout as a part of their plans to bring full fibre broadband to one million UK homes and businesses by 2021.
Full fibre broadband offers users a significantly superior and more reliable online experience, with download speeds 20 times faster and upload speeds 150 times faster than the average fixed broadband connection in the United Kingdom.
James said,
“This is great news for Southend which will allow businesses to work more efficiently as the use of the internet becomes ever more important.”
“The commitment from Vodafone and CityFibre in Southend is a clear sign that Southend is an excellent place to do business and I am sure that this improved technological infrastructure will have a positive effect on our local economy.”
