James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Steve Brine, to be even more ambitious in the Governments approach to Diabetes.
During the Health and Social Care Topical Questions James asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State,
“Our diabetes prevention programme was the first of its kind and has helped a large number of people since 2016. Can the Minister promise me that in the future, and when long term NHS plan is published especially, will see us being even more ambitious?”
To which the Secretary of State responded with,
"The long term NHS plan is an excellent opportunity to look at how the NHS can best support people with and at risk of developing Diabetes and that includes transformation funding beyond next spring and involves looking at how technology can be used to help people better manage that long term condition."
Following the session James, a Diabetic himself, said,
"I am pleased to have received assurances from the Secretary of State that the Government take diabetes serious and have ambitious plans for people like myself that live with Diabetes everyday."
