Last Wednesday, James Duddridge MP visited the Great Wakering Summer Play scheme to show his support for the work they do over the summer holidays.
The Play scheme is a not-for-profit event that seeks to encourage as many local children to enjoy a safe place to play and will be celebrating its 35th birthday in 2019.
James said:
“It was wonderful to visit the Play scheme and see all of the wonderful things on offer to entertain the kids during their summer holiday.
There really is something for everyone and I am very pleased that schemes like this exist and there are so many brilliant volunteers helping to run it.
I look forward to coming again next year for the 35th edition.”
Chairman of the Play scheme, Kevin Stibbards said:
“It is not easy putting on an event of this size and trying to ensure suitable activities for different age groups, but it is fantastic to see so many children playing happily together and having a great time. This is an important local community event and needs to be supported.”
Great Wakering Councillor, Jo McPherson, who volunteers at the Play scheme said:
“It is great volunteering for the Great Wakering Summer Play scheme it is such an amazing event which deserves all of the support it gets.”
