James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, backs Parliament Week 2011, a new initiative that aims to build greater awareness, understanding of, and engagement with, Parliamentary democracy in the UK. An exciting programme of events is planned for the week, not just in Parliament but across the UK and these will explore how and why the House of Commons and the House of Lords is important to everyone.
James said
“I am pleased to support this exciting new initiative exploring how democracy affects citizens and how they can participate in it. I often meet people within the constituency who are keen to find out more about Parliament and Politics. I would urge everyone to visit the Parliament Week website to learn more about the history of Parliament, the work of Parliamentarians and democracy.
In addition, over the years I have had a number of local schools and constituents travel to the House of Commons and they have had a tour of the Parliamentary Estate. If you would like to have a tour, please contact my offices.”
