James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, presented his Christmas donation to Gill Garwood, Chief Executive of HARP, Homeless Action Resource Project.
Every year, since 2005, James has sent over 1,000 Christmas cards and with that comes a huge financial cost. James decided last year that instead of sending Christmas cards, he will make a donation to a local charity, determined by the constituents of Rochford and Southend East.
There was an overwhelming response and a variety of different charities were suggested. Each charity is a deserving cause, helping the most vulnerable in our society. However, it was the charity with the most nominations that were presented with a personal donation of £100
James said
“I am delighted to present my donation to HARP. I have visited HARP many times over the years and the services they provide to some of the most vulnerable people in our society are invaluable.
“I received a large number of nominations from constituents and I would like to thank everyone who took part.”
