James has raised more than £2,500 for suicide prevention charities after running the London Marathon on Sunday.
The Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East completed the 26.2-mile route in five hours and nine minutes.
It was his third London Marathon, and this year he was raising funds and awareness for both Southend Samaritans and The Rose Paterson Trust.
Now, with his legs barely rested, James is already planning his next marathon.
"I'd like to thank everybody for their support, both for the charities and me personally," James said.
"Sunday did not quite go to plan, I did not beat my personal best of 4 hours and 36 minutes but I did get round in a respectable 5 hours and 9 minutes.
"My legs are a bit stiff, and at times I thought ‘never again’, but I hope to continue with my running (I have already surpassed 100 parkruns) – and I’m already planning a marathon next year."
