James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, recently met with Police Officers and a member of the SMART team out in the community. They discussed issues including anti social behaviour and the Police outlined the work that they are doing in conjunction with the SMART team to reduce the number of anti social behaviour incidents.
James walked around Quantock flats, met a number of residents and spoke to the officers about the ongoing initiatives and work that they are doing around the tower blocks and across the Borough.
James said
“It is evident that the Police are working with other agencies to try and reduce the number of incidents that occur across Southend. They are using a variety of methods to engage with residents, and it would seem their efforts are paying off. The Police are working hard to provide a reassuring presence within the tower blocks and have carried out regular door to door canvassing to ascertain how safe residents feel in their homes and what more can be done.
I am contacted fairly regularly by constituents with issues they have had or incidents they have experienced in relation to anti social behaviour. I have been reassured today that work is being done at the grass roots to address these issues, and I commend the police for the good work they are doing.
