James Duddridge MP has praised a group of volunteers who have been supporting local families and vulnerable people throughout the pandemic.
The MP held a virtual meeting with Southend's Volunteering Matters group on Friday, 18th December 2020 to learn more about their work within the town.
The charity supports local communities to overcome adversity, tackle social isolation and loneliness. During the pandemic, volunteers have given their time to assist the most vulnerable, helping them to navigate these unprecedented challenges safely.
Commenting, James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, said:
"Charities and the voluntary sector have played a vital role in the national effort against coronavirus this year and it was a pleasure to meet some of the team from Volunteering Matters on Friday.
"During our virtual meeting I was able to hear more about the work they do, their experiences and how they have supported some of the most vulnerable people in Southend during the pandemic.
"The group, like all volunteers, are a credit to our town and I would like to thank them once again for the work that they do."
