Local Member of Parliament James Duddridge Seeks reassurances from Nadhim Zahawi, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Education on the support available for Young Adults with Special Educational Needs in Their Pathway Through to Adulthood and Workforce.
James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, attended Education Questions in the House of Commons on Monday. James wanted to seek reassurance from the Ministers in the Department for Education that provisions were being made for children with Special Educational Needs. James was particularly interested to know what support any individuals with Special Education Needs who were going into the workplace would get.
James asked:
“What is the department doing help children with Special Education Needs in their pathway through to adulthood and where appropriate into workforce?”
Nadhim Zahawi Said:
“We’ve introduced the supportive internship programme for young people with complex needs which is having a significant impact in supporting young people into work.”
James continues to champion the cause of individuals with special educational needs both in parliament and in Southend. He will be attending a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Autism on Wednesday 31st January to hear the group’s recommendations concerning helping children with autism at school.
