James Duddridge MP experienced first-hand life at the Royal Military Academy during a recent visit to Sandhurst.
The Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East spent the day meeting officer cadets as part of his role on the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS). The scheme gives MPs the chance to get a better understanding of what it is like to be a soldier in the United Kingdom.
Sandhurst is where all officers in the British Army are trained to take on the responsibility of leading soldiers. During training, all officer cadets learn to live by the academy’s motto: Serve to Lead.
On Thursday (20th June) James was given the opportunity to meet cadets who are currently undergoing their leadership training and discover more about what it takes to be an Officer in the Army.
Commenting afterwards, James said:
"Sandhurst is a world-leading military training academy and it was great to see for myself what it takes to turn those with leadership potential, whether they're serving soldiers or new to the Army, into officers.
"The professionalism and dedication of the officer cadets and training staff was very impressive and I thank them for welcoming me and for the work they do."
