James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has received a letter from the Driving Standards Agency addressing his request to reinstate a Driving Test Centre in Southend. James wrote to the Chief Executive of the Driving Standards Agency requesting that Southend be added to the pilot scheme that is currently operating across the country. The pilot scheme sees Driving Test Centres operating from alternative venues within the community.
Earlier this month, James launched a campaign to have Southend added onto the pilot scheme and the letter that James has received outlines that the Minister for Transport, Mike Penning MP, is currently considering the request and will be making direct contact with James.
James said
“I am delighted that my request is being considered and I am continuing to actively campaign for the return of a Driving Test Centre in Southend.
I was absolutely disgusted when the test centre closed in Southend, I actively campaigned to prevent closure, unfortunately that campaign was unsuccessful, I am very hopeful that this campaign will have a positive outcome.”
