James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East has asked for an update from The Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, Secretary of State at the Department of Transport on the Southend Driving Test Centre. James has asked the Secretary of State how many driving tests have been taken at the Southend Driving Test Centre and how many of those test resulted in a pass.
In 2011 James campaigned for Southend to be added to the pilot scheme run by the Department of Transport which saw driving tests being carried out from community facilities. The Driving Test Centre at the Tickfield Centre in Southend was added to the scheme and since then has gone from strength to strength.
James said
“Securing Southend’s Driving Test Centre was a real success story for everyone involved. I have asked the Secretary of State how many tests have been conducted in Southend as I think it is important to continue to monitor the success of the centre and perhaps consider expanding the number of tests offered locally if the demand exceeds the supply.
James has written a formal question to the Secretary of State and will provide a further update once he has received a reply.
