James Duddridge MP is welcoming the opportunity to support an early General Election next week.
The MP for Rochford and Southend East will support the Prime Minister by backing a snap poll in a bid to break the Parliamentary deadlock on Monday.
Under the Fixed-term Parliamentary Act, Boris Johnson needs at least two thirds of MPs to vote for the motion when it is brought before the House of Commons.
James, who has always backed Brexit and never voted to delay Britain’s departure from the EU, believes an election is needed as soon as possible.
He said:
“Parliament is in deadlock and this cannot go on. I will be supporting the Prime Minister on Monday and vote for a General Election so that the people can decide whether they want our country to move forward with Boris Johnson, or more dither and delay with Jeremy Corbyn.”
