James Duddridge MP is encouraging local residents and businesses to share their views on the idea of a year-round dog-friendly beach in Southend.
It's as Southend Borough Council launched a public consultation on the matter, which runs until 7th December 2020.
Currently dogs are banned from all of the town's beaches between May and the end of September.
James believes this is unfair on both dogs and their owners, and launched a dog-friendly beach campaign last year, which gained the support of more than 1,600 people.
Now, the Council, who will be responsible for implementing any changes, have opened a public consultation and are asking local people to share their views on the idea of an all-year dog-friendly beach in Southend.
"This is a great opportunity to let the Council know just how strongly local people feel about making this a success, and I would encourage everybody to take part," James said.
"It’s my view that an area along our seven-mile coastline where dogs can exercise is not only good for pets, but also for people’s own physical and mental wellbeing too, which is more important now than ever before!"

The results of the consultation are expected to be published early next year.
