James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has signed a letter written by Theresa Villiers MP to BBC boss, Lord Hall. The letter was signed by a number of Members of Parliament who have accused the BBC of bias towards a no deal Brexit by calling it a 'cliff edge'.
In the letter MPs urge Lord Hall to recommend to the BBC's reporters to use less partisan language when discussing a no deal outcome such as 'cliff edge' and instead refer to it as a move to WTO rules.'
James said,
"It is important that the publically funded BBC remain politically neutral in accordance to its charter. Since the referendum the BBC has been biased against Brexit and in particular a scenario that would see us move onto World Trade Organisation rules."
"Unlike the 'cliff edge' that the BBC are reporting, a move to World Trade Organisation rules is an opportunity for the United Kingdom. It would deliver a clean Brexit that allows the United Kingdom to sign its own trade deals, make its own laws and would not mean handing over £39 Billion to a federalist block."
"It would allow the United Kingdom to once again be able to set its own destiny as a truly global, outward looking and prosperous sovereign nation."
