This week marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week. During the week businesses across the UK will be spreading the word about the benefits of apprenticeships for learners and businesses alike. It is a chance for employers and apprentices to come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships while encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career. The theme for the week nationally is “Apprenticeships Work”
On Monday alongside my colleagues at Southend Borough Council and teaching team at South Essex College, we launched some promotional campaign videos for National Apprenticeship week. One video will be launched each day which will coincide with vacancies that are themed around 5 areas (The Creative and Cultural sector, Health and Social Care sector, Specialist Manufacture/Engineering sector, Specialist Construction sector, and finally the one on Friday 9th will focus on apprenticeships relating to the “Tech City on Sea” initiative, based at the Hive, and related to the area of Start-up Businesses and Digital Marketing).
For those interested in watching the videos or finding out about the vacancies available in these sectors, the videos will be uploaded to the South Essex College’s YouTube channel throughout the week and shared on my social media platforms. So I would encourage you to follow me @jamesduddridge on twitter as well as Facebook and Instagram if you don’t do so already.
To demonstrate the value of apprenticeships, Seetec have also been encouraging its apprenticeship employers to take part in an apprentice/MD job swap for a day. Seetec’s own recruitment consultant apprentice Laura Turner will be swapping with MD John Baumback, and the two of them will be travelling to Roots Hall to visit Southend United’s Digital Marketing Apprentice Callum Bishop, who is swapping with Head of Commercial Rhys Ellingham for the day.
To follow Seetec’s campaign more information can be found their Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. They will be sharing photos and stories from their job swap experiences throughout the week.
