Southend Standard column:
When people contact me as their Member of Parliament it can be for a variety of reasons. They may have a problem and need my help resolving it, I can sometimes be a last resort because all other routes they have tried haven’t worked, or a resident may just want to share their view on a national issue like Brexit with me. Whatever the reason, I am always happy to hear from constituents and do my absolute best to assist.
I also like to get out and about in Southend and Rochford to meet with the people who make our town great – and there are many. This includes holding regular MP’s surgeries in the constituency – some in places that you might not expect. Previous surgeries have taken place in pubs, fish and chip shops, parish halls and even at McDonald’s.
Being accessible to constituents is important to me, so now, for the third consecutive year, I’m pleased to say I will once again be teaming up with Arriva Bus to take my surgery on the road inside a double-decker bus.
The route will once again take us across the constituency, stopping at various spots along the way including in Rochford, Great Wakering, Southend, Shoeburyness and Westcliff – so if you can’t get usually get to one of my surgeries – we’re bringing it to you!
I will be joined by Essex, Southend and Rochford councillors along the route, so if you need our help, or would just like to pop along and say hello, this year’s bus surgery tour will take place on Friday 26th July. It really is a fantastic way to connect with lots of different people and I hope to see many readers through the day.
Walk-ins are available but it’s best to book an appointment beforehand. To do so, you can contact my office on 01702 616 135 or email [email protected].
Thank you.
